10am-11:30am FILM SCHOOL 4 YOUTH---Digital moviemaking for the under 16 age group. Greg Jeffs of Nanaimo Film School hosts.
11:30am-1pm HOW TO MAKE A FILM FOR LESS THAN THE PRICE OF A USED CAR-- Neil Jackson of Nanaimo Film School hosts a workshop on micro-budget filmmaking.
1pm-2:30pm MAKE YOUR POINT WITH FILM--- Filmmaking enables students, activists, artists, and others to communicate in new and compelling ways. Presented by GISS students Ben Sanchez and Lucas Parker, this workshop will give participants a step-by-step walk-through of how an idea can became a short film.
2:30pm-4pm BIODIESEL: "I Smell French Fries!"---You can run your car or boat on vegetable oil! The SSI Bio-diesel Group will present a "show and tell," a slide show, and give a local bio-diesel update.
4pm-5:00pm ALTERNATIVE ENERGY COLLECTIVE--Want to get involved? Introducing a new group dedicated to brainstorming and developing alternative energy options for a sustainable Saltspring island: The Alternative Energy Collective, a group of SS inventors and energy activists will show a short film on "the Bates Car" and share information on food production, water, heating, grid power, and shelter.
