Arvid Chalmers

I have been a real estate agent on Salt Spring Island for 23 years.

I believe in the rights of the private landholder. I believe that the laws should apply equitably for all.

Messrs. Trethewey and Macdonald of Texada Land Corporation also believe in the rights of private landholders. In Vancouver where they live it is illegal to walk in the Watershed. On Salt Spring Island, a short 15 minute helicopter ride away, this company can clear cut in our watershed.

Now being a realtor I spend most of my time in the various coffee shops around Ganges. It is where I see most of my clients, we drink coffee, we drink tea, we talk. All of the water for this tea and coffee comes from Maxwell Lake.

To those of you who have been unable to enter the fray for whatever reason, I beseech you to think, think of our coffee and tea.

We are at the Watershed.
